#MusicMonday: Some Concerts Postponed to 2021

I’m not sure what to be more devved about at this point, because if ‘beyond hacked’ was a person it would most certainly be me. I’m not much of a club fan and in fact the last time I set foot in there was when Castle Lite brought J Cole to the Extra Cold concert in 2016. I’m a festival and concert fan so you can imagine how your girl’s calendar was looking like. First Boys II Men, followed by Cardi B and then finish off strong with the Scorpion Kings; what more can you ask for? If you are a lover of all genres like me then I’m sure we can all take a moment and let all these concert postponements sink in.

Lets not stay in that sadness for too long, we need to focus on fighting COVID-19. Atleast we have endless streaming sites that can help us carry on through these tough times right?

Lets start with Boys II Men. Try to think back to when you actually started listening to this group, were you writing the lyrics in a cute book with milky pens? Was it a Metro FM Sunday afternoon sing along vibe while you were cooking? Or do you have the music on blast doing what we call a “Spring clean” every Saturday? Well I was pretty much the hun that did all of the above, my sister and I even have a name for old school R&B music. Since the jams are always about love or some sort of situationship the phrase “mphe motho” did the trick. Now do you see why April was going to pop off? I was even planning a karaoke session and many pre-parties with my sister just so we can be fully prepared for this concert.

Can we give it up to event promoters Glen 21 Entertainment though? As a member of the “mphe motho” society I have to give it up for their impeccable taste in choosing concert headliners. We were at the Toni Braxton concert and if that’s anything to go by I’m certain that the Boy II Men concert was going to be a stellar affair. Check out our highlights from the Johannesburg leg of Toni Braxton’s As Long As I Live Tour.

In 2015 the iconic group Boys II Men came to South Africa to perform and I’m guessing it was a huge success because why would they be coming back? This group remains one of the most iconic R&B groups on the music industry and their wide appeal of creating endless hits keeps transcending over to all generations – whats that iconic factor you would ask?  I would say it’s love!

With timeless soulful ballads including “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You” and “Motownphilly”, the trio hold the distinction of being the best-selling R&B group of all time, with an astounding 64 million albums sold worldwide. Their list of accolades include 4 Grammy Awards, 9 American Music Awards, 9 Soul Train Awards, 3 Billboard Awards and a MOBO Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

While we stay indoors in this COVID-19 lockdown how about you drop a comment of your favourite Boys II Men song? A video would also be nice. With the current uncertainty around international travelling for the next few months, event organiser Glen21 Entertainment together with legendary super group Boyz II Men confirmed that their South African tour will be postponed until March 2021.

I have good news about Africa’s biggest premium beer brand, Castle Lite. The brand has announced that Cardi B is still Unlocking the Exta Cold concert as the international headliner. The announcement was made by renowned media personality and connoisseur of Hip-Hop, Sway Calloway, during the first episode of Castle Lite Unlocks in Bed With … on Wednesday 15 April 2020.

After having placed the Unlocks 2020 experience on ice due to the global Covid-19 outbreak, Castle Lite can confirm that Cardi B will be making her way to Mzansi for an Extra Cold night of Hip-Hop music featuring a star-studded line-up.

The 2020 Castle Lite Unlocks experience will now take place on Saturday, 5 December 2020 at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg. The brand, and Cardi B herself are excited to be continuing with the experience as planned.

“Both parties felt it important to make sure that Cardi B would still be coming to South Africa to give her Bardigang a performance they will never forget. We are looking forward to hosting the biggest Hip-Hop experience in Africa once again this year,” said Castle Lite Brand Director, Silke Bucker.

As previously mentioned, consumers who purchased tickets will be happy to know that those tickets are still valid and are exchangeable for the new performance date. Castle Lite will be in direct contact with these consumers regarding the ticket exchange.

Consumers who wish to no longer attend the event are, however, also entitled to a refund by sending an email to info@heroticket.co.za with details on the email address used to book the ticket, cardholder’s details for ticket purchase as well as the ticket number. Consumers also have the option of reallocating their tickets should they not be able to make the new date by logging onto www.castlelite.co.za or donating their ticket to the Covid-zero initiative by emailing info@heroticket.co.za.

Consumers wishing to still get their hands on these exclusive tickets can still do so at www.castlelite.co.za or in store at Spar, Edgars, Jet, Postnet, CNA, and more.

If there is anyone who is vocal about COVID-19 its Cardi B. Here are some snippets from her IG that highlight her biggest concerns about this global pandemic.

We do however have great news, the Scorpion Kings postponed and gave us a new date to when this LIVE AMAPIANO concert will be taking place. All roads lead to Sun Arena on Women’s Day, Sunday the 9th of August. Event organiser Glen21 Entertainment together with the Amapiano super duo Scorpion Kings confirmed this new show date ahead of the lockdown though so one can only wonder if this will be the case; great news nonetheless.

This 3-hour long, first-of-its-kind curated show will feature live performances from a string of talented South Africa artists to be announced over the next few months. Also as a build up to the actual show to keep the fans entertained while encouraging them to follow safety and health regulations, Scorpion Kings will be doing a series of live streams on their social media platforms over the next few weeks. This will offer fans a small taste of the upcoming live concert from the comfort of their homes, the first one took place on the 27th of March. In case you missed it check this.

Tickets purchased for the original date will not need to be exchanged and are valid for the new date in August. Additional information will be sent to all current ticket holders. Tickets for the LIVE show remain open online at Ticketpros.co.za as well an any Super Spar nationwide. Prices range from R150 to R490 so do the right thing.
