Dj Lag Moves Legs at The Grammys

As the new year begins and most of us are planning our new year resolutions and for us South Africans, our country has been in the spot light for positive reasons lately.

From world cup triumphs in Japan to our Zozibini Tunzi being crowned Miss Universe and so on; we as a nation are most definitely on cloud nine.

A new wave of victory has now come from a Durban based house music subgenre “gqom” genius by the name of Lwazi Gwala, known to the world as Dj Lag.
For the past year Dj Lag has become the poster boy for gqom music, which is a dark hypnotic club sound that hails from the townships of the city of Durban.

The talented Dj is now known globally for making people dance and his newly found celebrity status got him to rub shoulders with the likes Mrs Beyoncé Carter who we all know is a global superstar.
Dj Lag recently flew to the USA to attend the 62nd Grammy awards in support of Beyoncé’s latest offering The Gift, where he produced the track My Power. The album also offers a taste of mzansi’s talent as well as more gifted producers from the African continent including Tekno Miles, Wiz Kid, Yemi Alade and our very own Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly.

Though The Gift did not win the Grammy, Dj Lag was still thankful for the opportunity to be there and spoke about going back again for a win. We wish him the best of luck.
